BT wins the 2017 Outstanding Organisation Award given by the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers (IEEE) Computational Intelligence Society (CIS).For the work around applying computational intelligence techniques in practical and beneficial applications.

The research teams from the University of Essex and BT took home several award at the Global Telecoms Business awards. The operational benefit of my applied artificial intelligence applications is estimated to be over £2.5 million now.

Best AI Application Award 


15th December 2016

I won the best paper application award at the AI-2016 conference in Cambridge for the paper titled "A Genetic Algorithm Based Approach for the Simultaneous Optimisation of Workforce Skill Sets and Team Allocation". The awards was presented by the British Computer Society's Specialist Group on Artificial Intelligence.

GTB Winners 2015


18th May 2015

A collaboration between the University of Essex and BT has won the business service innovation category of the 2015 Global Telecoms Business Innovation Awards.

The University of Essex team included Professor Hani Hagras, from the School of Computer Science and Electronic Engineering, and PhD student Andrew Starkey, who worked with a BT team led by Dr Gilbert Owusu and Dr Sid Shakya.
